This special nomination by their teachers is given to those students who demonstrate outstanding positive characteristics such as citizenship, personal integrity, improved effort, helpfulness, and dedication to learning. These students deserve to be publicly recognized. Each month the Class Room Teacher has the opportunity to choose a student for this special honor.

A Message from the Superintendent: Roland Smith

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Lane Elementary web site. Lane Elementary School is located in Lane, Oklahoma and is a part of the Atoka County School District. Our student population of 200 students has a very diverse ethnic makeup that brings a richness of cultures to our campus.

Lane's staff is committed to providing a strong educational experience for our students. But this didn't happen overnight. This is the culmination of years of hard work on the part of talented teachers, and dedicated staff, diligently working as a team towards improving our schools and the performance of our students. And let's not forget about the remarkable strides of our students. They have shown us that when we raise our expectations, they will work hard to meet and surpass them. These scores are a testimony to their persistence more than anything.

Beginning in Kindergarten, you will find teaching and learning activities that are designed to foster literacy, promote understanding of mathematics, learn about the world we live, develop a love of science and integrate technology into the learning process. All students are given opportunities to extend their learning by using critical thinking skills and problem solving strategies. We believe that all students will be successful. It is our desire to work in partnership with the community to provide the best learning environment for our students. I'd like to invite all parents, guardians, grandparents and community members to become involved at Lane in some way this year. Volunteers are always welcome in classrooms, and through out the school to support student learning. Participation in the Reading Buddies, 4H and School Club is highly encouraged.

Lane Elementary has recently completed a modernization outside our building and a new paint job on the inside. We are proud of our new look and take pride in our school. Not only have we made improvements in the physical part of the school but we have also enhanced our technology access. Our school marquee keeps the community informed of our many important activities going on at Lane Elementary.
